Sunday 10:00AM, Distance: 8.400km 60km and 100km
Please take note that the 2010 time-trial course over a distance of 8400meters will be run in the Berg en Bos park instead of the Ugchelse forest as it was in 2009. The start is within walking distance of the athletics track (2 km).The start line is situated on the "Royal Mile" near the entrance of the Apenheul and the new Klimbos (climbing trees for kids).
The first 700meters are flat and then the next 300meters you'll take note that the road starts rising followed by false flats. Then the route descents past a special resting area for animals. After 1.5km you'll run through a part of the forest that is very dark and then turn left where you'll descent further. On the bottom of the descent you'll proceed in the direction of the Royal Mile and then encounter an out and back section where you'll be able to see your fellow competitors face to face.
In the distance the finish line is visible but to reach it runners are still obliged to run 6km , thus the runners turn right and start climbing on another section in another type of forest . After this section the route is flat for about 1km where one has the possibility to again look at their fellow competitors face to face in the direction of the watering table at the 4km mark. Be prepared because you'll find yourself climbing once again after the 4.5km mark.
Runners will experience the special resting area for animals all around them and you'll even bumb into "Bambi". Bambi even has a climb named after her, the Col de Bambi! After 5km runners will be on the highest point of the route and then start enjoying a nice descent over a surface made soft by Xmas tree leaves. The last few kilometers take you past the Rhododendrons and here you'll find one more short steep climb, the Cote de Rhododendrons!
After the Cote de Rhododendrons you'll descend lightly over a section of the course with a lot of roots ( caution ! ) and then turn left as you approach the finale but first a glimpse to the right to say hi to the deers and wild pigs before going for it over the last 700meters until you reach the finish line .
Parking: The start is within walking distance of the athletics track (2 km) or one can park on the Asselsestraat .
Supporters tip: Within walking distance of the parking area/athletics track you'll pass by de Everzwijnen pigs haunted by the character, Obelix.
